Welcome to My practice. My practice model is a hybrid model of tele psychiatry and in person visits.
This last year has been very educational. I was not sold on tele psychiatry before the pandemic and
had the notion that I will lose something valuable if I don’t meet with my patients face to face.
After being forced to do it in the last year my patients and I learnt together that tele psychiatry
works very well. Not having to travel and sit in traffic was less stressful for all of us. I learnt
to pick up all the cues over video that I thought can’t be done and most of my current patients were
very happy to be able to continue with our sessions over video. So here we are with a valuable lesson
learnt.
I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my site today.
I have been practicing psychiatry for the last fifteen years. My journey has taken me
into various settings from inpatient to present at Veterans hospital and private
practice. I feel very fortunate to have worked in so many different settings and gaining
very valuable experience and expertise along the way. I am deeply grateful to all my
patients for sharing their lives and their troubles with me. I am trained in
pharmacotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy and also got additional training in EMDR.
The mystery of the mind is a very fascinating subject for me. As I used all the
techniques I had learned and mastered to help my patients I began to see that treating
the mind in isolation is not the best way to healing and transformation. There is a very
deep and intrinsic connection between the mind and the body that is essential to
understand. Every thought and feeling has an imprint in our body and sensations from the
body has an effect in our brain. I use Breath as a powerful tool for healing as it had
been used for centuries. Growing up in India and getting my medical training in the
United States gives me an unique perspective on the different modalities used in the
East and the West. I am now certified from the Center of Mind Body Medicine in
mindfulness, autogenics, biofeedback and guided imagery. I also offer mind body groups
in conjunction with psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to facilitate the process of
healing. Through my experience and my own life I feel a more integrative approach works
the best.
I will tailor the treatment for every individual based on their unique needs and will
spend time with each patient explaining which modalities might be the best fit for them.
Harmony comes with our mind and body being in balance. I chose the symbol "in balance" for
my website as I strongly feel the balance of our mind and body brings peace and
happiness in our everyday life.
